Men, who inhabit the nation of Eltar, are the youngest and most numerous race of Ber, once consisting of a collective of warring tribes that eventually united under a common code of chivalry. Men were created by their patron diety, Anoth, to serve as a force to protect the free peoples of Ber. As such, many nations of Ber owe their survival to the race of Men. Dwarves owe men for the aid given during the Old Giant Wars and the aid they still give in protecting the Mountainhomes of Arol Lamnir from other threats and the possible awakening of the Giants. Hobbits also rely on the military protection of Men, as they are surrounded by Orc invaders to the west, and monsters from the Great Dismal Forest to the east. Men also have an alliance with Elves due to the Elves’ introduction of magic. Men in turn offered their military protection in times of war.
The short lifespan of Men is compensated for by their collective ambition.
